Megan McCarthy, JD
Megan McCarthy is a California and United Kingdom qualified attorney. She has over 15 years of global intellectual property litigation, prosecution, transactional, and enforcement experience. She has extensive experience developing and protecting U.S. and international trademark rights for clients, including in China. Prior to opening her own practice Megan was a member of the IP practice teams of several national firms, including DLA Piper from 2005 to 2011. Megan holds a law degree from the University of California, San Diego and a B.A. from the University of California Los Angeles.
Brittany Mortimer, JD
Brittany Mortimer specializes in employment law and also provides guidance on commercial business law matters. She regularly advises high-growth technology clients in day-to-day HR and employment matters, including developing and maintaining consistent, compliant processes and documents.
Brittany began her career in litigation, defending employers in lawsuits ranging from wage and hour disputes to discrimination allegations. She also defends employers before state and federal government agencies, including the Department of Labor, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, National Labor Relations Board, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Brittany has represented public and private employers, and her clients have ranged from small start-ups to Fortune 500 companies.
Armed with her litigation experience, Brittany advises employers on best practices to avoid the courtroom in the first place. Her goal is to prevent disputes when possible, and mitigate existing disputes effectively.
Brittany Mortimer is licensed to practice law in Texas and Michigan. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, and her law degree from the University of Houston Law Center.
Outside of work she enjoys time with her husband chasing after their beautiful and very active toddler.
Patricia Wyrod, JD & CIPP/E
Patricia Wyrod is the founder of Think Create Group Inc., a California law corporation. She started her career with a big international law firm, Dewey Ballantinne LLP, then worked in-house for a string of successful, privately-held Silicon Valley companies including:
- ipsy.com, an e-commerce beauty company founded by YouTube superstar Michelle Phan, which cracked the code on social media marketing and landed $100M in private equity funding in late 2015
- Silver Spring Networks, a smart grid IoT company, from its first sale until its IPO in 2013
- Virgin American Airlines while in start up mode, the year before its first flight and
- SPL, a global enterprise software company, from its days as an old school bespoke software company through its transition to SaaS and acquisition by Oracle Corporation in 2006.
Patricia graduated from Michigan Law School and the Honors College of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Go Blue! She has an advanced degree in EU law and is one of approximately 4,300 persons worldwide who hold CIPP/E (European Union) status with the International Association of Privacy Professionals. She regularly advises her tech clients on GDPR compliance. She is admitted to practice in California.
